Claire Harvey-East 

Founder, Musical Director and Owner.

Vocal Coach/Teacher/Conductor.

Claire has been singing from a very early age, she began her training at Pattisons Theatre Arts, appearing in panto as a child.  She continued her training at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, representing Wales on a tour of Germany with the BTM Silver Band.

Claire is herself a professional Opera singer and has performed throughout the UK and Europe. She trains and performs with many of the world’s finest vocal coaches and pianists, usually working one day a week in London with renowned répétiteur Janet Haney.

Claire has been a sound technician for the Salon Varieties Theatro in Fuengirola Spain and vocal co-ordinator for Tivoli World Shows in Benalmadena, Spain. She has produced and performed in her own highly acclaimed "Its Showtime" [Songs from The West End and Broadway).

Claire's students have gone on to perform as highly successful acts in a wide variety of shows - in the West End ("Phantom of the Opera", "Bend it like Beckham" and "Boogie Nights" to name but a few), in Cabaret, on Cruise Ships, pop and rock careers - both locally to Swadlincote and internationally. Many of her younger students have achieved placement in accredited Musical Theatre Schoolsand her private students regularly undertake Musical Theatre Exams - and routinely come out with 'Distinction' level passes.

Claire currently teaches 2 classes of Sing4Pleasure groups in Birmingham and Swadlincote, she also teaches privately and is currently working as a vocal tutor, classical cross-over artist and Operatic soprano. With over 25 years teaching experience (children and adults, schools, colleges and universities - privately and for the public sector), over 30 years of performance (from Opera to Country & Western, Stage to Screen, Corporate Functions to Birthday parties) and more than 10 years running Sing4Pleasure - Claire is the ideal person to bring out the best in YOU and the group.

Sue Turner

Personal Assistant to Claire Harvey-East /

BSc (Hons), RN (Ret'd), Dip N (Adult). 

Sue is Personal Assistant to Claire and helps in the day-to-day running of the groups. She is a retired nurse having spent the last 14 years as a Ward Sister and then Specialist Nurse in Renal Care at Nottingham. 

Sue has a background in ensemble music, having played clarinet and guitar (acoustic, 12-string, electric, mandolin and banjo) from a very young age (to grade 8 standard). She originally met Claire as a private singing student and after attending a workshop with the groups around 7 years ago, was 'persuaded' by the members to come along and 'give it a try'! 

Having a background in 'youth orchestra' playing and conducting, Sue assists with the running of the group, conducting, orchestrating gigs and performances and having been trained initially by Claire in music production found a love of 'sound tech-ing'! Sue has gone on to undertake professional training in live sound mixing, recording and lighting. She not only manages sound mixing for the group. but works alongside Claire as her sound technician in her own professional shows.

Sue also performs with the group (Alto section of course) and as a soloist during shows and gigs.
